Mobility Hub
In the era of climate change, transportation shifts and resilient design in our communities serve a more critical function each day. As cycling becomes a more popular sustainable transportation option, distributed bike infrastructure like bike corrals are a new opportunity to build resiliency - and can double as emergency response hubs. This speculative design for a Mobility Hub provides fixed bike storage, protected from the elements with a solar canopy. In turn the solar canopy provides electricity (with concealed battery storage and an emergency generator). Integrated into the design are charging stations, which can be community hubs to provide electricity, communications and social support. Bench seating also serve as place for people to rest on a daily basis, or during an emergency, and integrated planters soften the transition between bike and street.
