Creekside Conversion
After 100+ years, this 1911 Palo Alto Victorian still had good bones, but had been chopped into spaces that were awkward for a contemporary family. Two phases of work gave this family of five a new home to complement their lifestyle. Phase 1 was a complete renovation of the upper bedroom and bathroom level. An elegant "treehouse" master suite was carefully crafted was carefully crafted in the same footprint, but with a full bathroom and two large walk in closets. The other bedrooms and shared bath were upgraded with new flooring, new windows and better materials.
Phase 2 improved the indoor/outdoor connection with generous spaces to relax, play and entertain. The kitchen went from functional to fabulous, becoming the hub for the family to gather, work, cook and entertain. Beyond the kitchen slide fold window, a new deck with outdoor kitchen and herb garden became the stepping stone to the extended yard, fire pit and hot tub. Clever storage in the kitchen, pantry, dining, family rooms (and even the bike shed!) calmly corral the chaotic contents of everyday life. Communal spaces for dining, living, and lounging were upgraded indoors and out, giving this busy family plenty of space for their daily flow.
