Post-Post Office

Built in 1891, the original structure for this house served as the first post office for Palo Alto/Stanford. Since then, the building has had three additions of varying sizes, and been carved into many small awkward spaces.  The narrow lot made the expansion and renovation very challenging.

The new design intentions preserve and augment the historically significant additions by returning the interior to its original proportions and house living spaces.  A new two story addition would replace the most recent addition, a shallow lean-to, and provide bedrooms and modern baths.
